Listen to only those in your Tribe

We shift our attention from the positive to the negative and question how we accomplish anything at all. We fear that we are making every mistake possible, that other factors are driving us astray, and that “one more thing” will tip us over the edge. We make a conscious effort to appear composed so that others can see that we are “put together” and that nothing affects us.

We work so hard to maintain this façade because we are reluctant to be held accountable for how we respond to our circumstances. Everyone who watches what we do offers advice on how they would do things differently if they were in our position. Each time a new suggestion is made from a “well-meaning” soul, we feel as if we have been pushed further backward, and any forward progress is merely a mirage.

When will we let other people’s perceptions of us and our behavior become less important to us than our forward motion?  We just need people who will acknowledge our progress and support us every step of the way, including mistakes. We move forward in the only way(s) we know how to.

Find your tribe, love them hard, and keep praying. They will love you back just as fiercely, without judgment or ridicule.
