I adore wandering though the bright trees of fall while they speak to a year of development, transformation, and regrettably, a transition to death.

When the skies are about to release the dawning snow, I enjoy inhaling deeply. As the crispness that is surrounding me is about to be replaces, I can feel the coming cleansing.

The sound of youngsters laughing is a preferred sound of mine. The joyful innocence that is not yet been exposed to the harshness of life. I love that this sound is not only contagious but is cathartic to the soul. It is impossible to hear this sound and not feel a deliverance the chains that bind us to a darker reality.
Why do people claim that opposites attract? Do we not want someone who appreciates our joys, indulges in our imaginations, and cherishes what we are certain we cannot live without? Contradictorily we promote an unrivaled sense of individuality. We aim to become separated from the norm, engaging in roles and tasks that set us apart. Why then do we long for validation of our feelings, emotions, and desires?
The propensity to seek, understand, favor, and absorb information that supports or confirms our preexisting opinions or values is known as confirmation bias. We exhibit this bias when we choose facts that champions or own presuppositions while rejecting those that contradict them. Confirmation bias is widespread because it is a constructive approach to data processing which enhances self-esteem, and relieves anxiety by eliminating contradictions and conflict.
Why do we feel a need to resolve these contradictions and conflicts right away? When someone disagrees with our feelings and emotions, does it really need to cause a strong sense of anxiety? Do we have to be perfect all the time? Can’t we let someone else’s sentiments take precedence over our own? Are we so self-centered that we cannot accept another person’s perspective without losing our respect for ourselves and our stature?
Although seeking confirmation of our deepest desires sets us up to be successful (or detrimental) in the future, there are scenarios wherein we should put our foot down and not be discouraged by another’s differing opinion?
I published an article and included a Scripture reference at the beginning of my blogging experience. Someone felt compelled to contact me right away to warn me against using the Bible and God in blogs since social media does not tolerate such dialogue. Why was my first thought that of, “Scroll past if you feel strong enough to tell me you don’t care for what I am doing.” My next thought was, I am glad you read my blog!”
We need to figure out how to return to embracing constructive criticism for, as we all know, there is only One who is and will remain flawless.
